Ornamental switchgrass "Frosted Explosion"
Decorative panic grass "Frosted Explosion" (Switch grass) - Panicum elegans.
An unusual garden decoration, as well as an airy, light filler for flower bouquets and dried flower arrangements.
Plant height 50 cm.
An attractive annual of the cereal family with straight ascending stems growing from one node.
The plant branches strongly from the base, forming a lush bush with an abundance of shoots and crowning inflorescences. The leaves are linear, lanceolate, pubescent on the upper and lower sides.
The inflorescence is a spreading, highly branched panicle (about 20 cm long), consisting of many individual petiolate spikelets 2-2.5 mm long.
The spikelets are located on long and thin legs, due to which the whole panicle looks very delicate - a wonderful floristic material with an elegant veil of panicles of inflorescences. To use as dried flowers, cut the stem immediately after the panicle has completely emerged from the stem.
Panicum elegance is a completely trouble-free and very hardy plant, but it is sensitive to low temperatures, so it should be planted only when the soil temperature is above +16 °C.
